Debut CD of Classical Accordion Music released today!!
Scottish classical Accordionist Paul Chamberlain has just released his debut solo CD of classical accordion music. It features a mixture of transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach, Rameau, Moszkowski and Kachaturian, as well as original works by Alexander Nagayev and Franck Angelis.
Paul was the first classical accordionist to gain a BMus from the Royal Scottish Aacademy

Classical Accordion Rectial at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh – Sunday 10th April 2011 – 6pm
Currently Paul is studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, under the tutelage of Dr Djordje Gajic. In 2010 he was Highly Commended for his performance in the Tony and Tania Webster Prize for rare Russian music, and he was winner of the acclaimed Governors Recital Prize. Paul was also one of the keyboard section finalists in the 2011 Royal Overseas League competition.

Accordionist in Royal Overseas League Competition
Paul recently reached the keyboard section final of the Royal Over-Seas League Competition, held in London. This prestigious annual competition brings together the best musicians from the UK, and the Commonwealth. Making a strong impression with the judges, Paul demonstrated the capabilities and potential of the classical accordion with a programme which included pieces by Bach, Nagayev, Angelis and Moszkowski.

Concert with Paragon Ensemble – 17th Feburary 2011
On 17th February, Paul performed in the world premier of a composition by Gareth Williams, for mixed chamber ensemble. Entitled “Home from Home” it was commissioned by the Paragon Ensemble for their 30th anniversary concert held in the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. The Paragon Ensemble are renowned for their contribution to the generation and promotion of new music and so it was very positive to see the accordion being included in their latest commission. Concert at The Merchants House of Glasgow – 15th December 2010
In 15th December, Paul Chamberlain took part in a concert for the members of the Merchants House of Glasgow. This was their annual Christmas concert and Paul performed alongside three other musicians, Marion Wyllie – Soprano, Andrew Huggan – Cello, and Geoffrey Tanti – Piano.
The concert was titled “Christmas Fantasia” and was an excellent opportunity to introduce the classical accordion to an appreciative audience, many of whom had not encountered it previously.
Paul performed a programme of which included works by Bach, Khachaturian, Angelis, Moszkowski as well as one of his own compositions – “Neva”.

Scottish Tango Ensemble Concert – Ramshorn Theatre, Glasgow
On Tuesday November 2nd The Scottish Tango Ensemble are giving a concert in Glasgow. The ensemble features accordionist Paul Chamberlain along with violin, piano and double bass. The concert takes place at 1.15pm in the Ramshorn Theatre at Strathclyde University, and includes a selection of tangos by Salgan, Laurenz, De Caro, Villoldo and Piazzolla.

HotScotch Ceilidh Band play in Monaco, featuring Paul Chamberlain – Accordion
On 28th August, HotScotch Ceilidh Band from Edinburgh were invited out to play in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The band is led by Paul Chamberlain on accordion, with Christine Anderson – fiddle and Jim Walker – drums. They were providing a Scottish ceilidh for guests on board the super-yacht “Christina O” as part of a wedding celebration with a Scottish connection. Continue reading
Scottish Tango Ensemble – Audio tracks added to website
The Scottish Tango Ensemble was formed in 2009 and is a collaboration of four dynamic musicians based in Edinburgh and Glasgow. They cover all styles of tango music from the classic Salon and Milonguera repertoire through to the Nuevo Tango associated with Astor Piazzolla. Continue reading
